DEPARTMENT OF MEDIA STUDIES, GCC HOSTS THE 125TH YEAR CELEBRATIONS OF DEEPIKA NEWSPAPER

Deepika is a one of the oldest news papers published in India. It was started in 1887 and today it is the oldest Malayalam newspaper in circulation. Deepika publishes its editions from different places like Kottayam, Kochi, Kannur, Trissur, Tiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode. In August 1989 Deepika and its entire sister publications came under the ownership of Rashtra Deepika Limited which is a Public Limited Company. The present Managing Director of RashtraDeepika Limited is Mr. PP Sunny and the Chief Editor is Rev. Fr. Alexander Paikada, CMI.

NOTHING IS KEPT SECRET ANYMORE

When I was young and used to look at my dad’s mobile phone and used to curse myself for not being old enough to have one. I used to sneak out my dad’s mobile phone and play with it or make calls to my friends. GCC Celebrates African Fest!!

Garden City College is known for comprising students from 70 countries from around the world and more than twenty of them are from Africa. Better yet, students from half of this continent are scattered all across Bangalore. A country has its own people, states, boundaries, languages, beliefs, cultures, societies and the like. For the culture that is to be experienced is not only the food, the drink, the dialect, the society but also the cultural songs and dances as well and that can be summed up as the way of life. INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY AWARD CEREMONY AT GCC:

The Garden City College, Bangalore witnessed an eclectic gathering of women achievers from various walks of life on the 10th of March, 2012. The college hosted 2012 InternationalWomen’s Day Award Ceremony to honor the women achievers from their respective fields. Eminent personalities from various fields like civil service, defense, music, theater, arts, medicine, economics, hospitality, beauty industry, acting and teaching graced the occasion. There were 36 awardees altogether. 15 Awards were given to principals and teachers from different schools of Bangalore.

The awardees were felicitated and they expressed their views on the event. A mono act by a renowned theater artist Anju Alva Naik was the highlight of the evening. Garden City College students and the members of the in-house dance academy gave various performances and sensationalized the event.

HOTEL MANAGEMENT STUDENTS VISIT WINERY!!


March 2, 2012: The students from the Hotel Management Department (BHM) of GCC were taken for an educational tour to a winery, Grover’s – one of the biggest domestic wine makers in India based out of Bangalore. The winery is in Doddaballapur, where the students were taken for both the vineyard and winery tour.
