The importance of referring journals in today’s world in an environment which is conducive to growth and development of the students is inevitable. Though these journals and magazines are accessible, but the accessibility is limited to the library of the college. Hence, every growing institute makes sure that it gives best of the opportunities to its students and staff to convert their abilities into intellectual thought process. An endeavor of this order has been a practice for Garden City College.
Our college had subscribed for the e-journal called “J-Gate” which is an ocean in itself for cumbersome knowledge database in every field that any student at GCC needs to grow to the next level. There was a small workshop organized by our very own Prof. Kalayanasundaram on this 26th of September, 2012, the last Wednesday. Mr. Ravishankar was the resource person from J-Gate who introduced it to the students and showed us the ways to get the additional knowledge that is really necessary to feel the impulse of doing a PG course. Search engines like Google and Yahoo provide a lot of inputs when we ask for a particular search, but are that truly authentic? That’s a question to be debated! But here at J-Gate, whatever information is available is well researched, proven and hence authentic. In order to grow further, let us all start using such e-journals. For further information, please refer the website and of course, faculty members are here for our help in such matters. I hope that the information shared by me was useful.

The quote by ‘Theodore Levitt’ is the mantra followed by the Dept. of Media Studies, Garden City College as the college inaugurated ‘Innokriya: The Media Club’ on September 28, 2012 in the campus. After weeks of preparation, rehearsals and toiling for day and night by the faculty and students the dream finally came true. The event took off with the inauguration of ‘The Media Wall’ by the Chief Guests. The Media Wall is an initiative of the Department which will showcase the works of students in various formats of media and give them opportunity to highlight various burning issues of debate and to unleash a Media Blitzkrieg bringing it under the purview of academics.
This was followed by mahurat shot of GCC motion film ‘Chahat’ by the Guest of Honour Mr. Prakash Belawadi. Being directed by Lenin, a student of Mass Communication III Semester in collaboration with the other students of the department, it is one of the many activities planned as part of the Media Club.
