ENGCONF2013: Literature as a Way of Life

The Department of Languages of Garden City College had organized ENGCONF2013, a 2-day National Conference on “Post-Modernism and Progressive India: Literary Articulations and Non-Literary Interventions” on March 22nd and 23rd. ENGCONF2013 saw a widespread participation of over 200 academicians, research scholars, and students from 87 different cities across the country. “Over 200 abstracts of research papers were received, of which 171 were selected by the selection committee to be presented during these two days,” said Dr. Payel Dutta Chowdhury, (more…)


As we say “Charity begins at home”, the NSS team of Garden City College started their social service by attending the camp. With fun comes work and with work comes responsibility and this was magnified as the Team worked in unison towards the village adopted by our college NSS team. Mandur, our place of work was located around 12.5 km from our college campus. The concept behind organizing this camp was to serve the back trodden people of the society and also to stay beside the specially challenged people of the society. (more…)

GCC Celebrates Maharashtra Day

Garden City College is a nest for students from 72 countries to roost in, and has always been instrumental in making all the students feel at home.  Apart from an assortment of events that the college hosts, Maharashtra Day was one such event marking the togetherness and a celebration for all the Maharashtrians here. Budget Conclave 2013 – A post budget symposium

February 28th 2013 sealed the fate of the citizens of India for another year as the budget was announced by the Finance Minister P. Chidambaram. The Department of MBA had organized for a pre-budget session before the budget with an objective to understand the aspirations of Young India from its 2nd budget of the 12th Five Year Plan. GCC Celebrates North East Day

On 16th march 2013, the students of garden City College, organized the north east fest, ‘CULTURA DIVERSITY. The students participated in various cultural programs and some got involved in the stalls that were put up displaying their traditional antiques, ethnic wear and their food items. They were seen wearing NE fest T-shirts and had started preparing their food items from 9a.m. in the morning and practiced their last rehearsals for the cultural show for the evening. Understanding Social Behavior in Bacteria - Department of Life Sciences organizes Guest Lecture

The students and faculty of the Department of Life Sciences welcomed Gardenian and microbiologist Dr. Srinandan C. S. for a guest lecture on Saturday. Dr. Srinandan obtained his M. Sc. in Microbiology from Garden City College in March 2004. He went on to earn a Ph. D in Microbiology from the M. S. University Baroda in December 2011. Currently a Post-doctoral research associate at the Molecular Pathogenesis Laboratory, Dept. of Microbiology and Cell biology at the Indian Institute of Science, Srinandan specializes in bacterial behavior. In a progressive education lecture series, Prof. Reuben David, a former visiting scholar with The Wilberforce Forum, the conservative worldview think tank based in Washington D.C, spoke to the students of Garden City College on values, leadership and worldview. A native Bangalorean, Mr. David’s knowledge of religions, culture, media and competing philosophies and ideologies of our day has made him a popular lecturer and seminar leader with university students and adult audiences alike all over the United States and India. GCC Sports

  • Garden City College won the Inter-Collegiate Football kick-offs organized by Baldwin Methodist College, Bangalore on Sunday, March 10. GCC Football team were declared the winners after defeating St. Hopkins College 2-0 in the finals. (more…)
